9/22/15 – Parent Meeting Recap

We typically do a few parent meetings throughout the year. We may be biased, but we think they’re actually kinda fun. It gives parents an excuse to come hang out in our awesome youth room and they get to hear about upcoming events and activities. We always share a little of our vision and explain the why-we-do-what-we-do stuff (for example, why going to winter camp is so important or how service events connect youth to Jesus maybe more so than a youth group message will, etc). Our desire is simply to connect with you. If you missed it, here’s some info from last week’s meeting:

UPCOMING EVENTS – Summer 2015 Is Upon Us

We mailed out our 2015 Incoming welcome letter to the Incoming 6th grade families for Jr High, and Incoming 9th grade families for High School. We’re excited for the new groups to move on up, which will be taking place June 16 & 23. If you’d like to read the letters, you can do so by clicking on the previous links (red text).

You should have already received our Summer calendar in the mail, but if not let us know and we’ll get one right out to you. If you need to update your address, click on the “Sign Up” tab at the top of the page, then click the “Youth Ministry Mailing List” link. You can also view the online calendar by clicking, uh, “Calendar.”

For Parents: Blog Update

Hey Parents, this is for you. I’ve always thought it’d be cool to have a blog where you can read about what we’re teaching. For that to work, you need to…well…you know…like…go visit the site and read it. I know that’s asking a lot (seriously).

Last year I had a “For Parents” section with “Forgiven & Renew: At Home” and “Nine35: At Home” categories within it. I’d post messages and small group questions in there. It was ok, but I never really liked it.

So I’m trying something a little different. The blog now has posts listed by categories (see the picture below, you can hover over to view sub-categories where applicable). I’ll update these as I add content, but the idea is that if we talk about dating at youth group you’ll be able to find info about it in the categories dropdown list. So you can search through it and read what you’d like.

What’s Happening – Sept 2013

I’m trying to write a book. It’s really difficult. I WILL HAVE UPDATES. I WILL HAVE UPDATES.

I’m trying to work through Don Miller’s Storyline workbook with a buddy. It’s really difficult too. I mean, you actually have to think about what you want in life; and what God wants for you.

I started running again. And by that I mean after I finish writing this I’m gonna go running for like the 2nd time in a few weeks. But I’m gonna go. I feel at least 1,000 times better about myself when I do.

Lara and I painted my office recently. Thanks in part to the motivation modeled by Mish. It looks pretty awesome, in my opinion. We used a crackle paint for 2 accent walls. I think that’s what they call um.  I should post a picture.

I cleaned today and thought, life is a matter of juggling two things: creating and cleaning. I wish dust and papers would just go away on their own.
