April 2017 Newsletter: A New Thought on Mentoring

There’s an idea I had that we talked about at Renew last month. The idea is that there’s a cycle to our faith that we can get stuck in, and the way out of it is to ask yourself one question: Am I able to mentor others? And by “mentor” I just mean that I’m able to help others in some way that adds meaning to their life. The opposite of this might be that I’m just ok hanging out with my friends without ever bringing something of significance into their lives.

This is a pretty general idea, I know, but that’s because we’re all at different places in our faith. It’s up to you to evaluate your friendships and determine whether or not you bring anything of significance into them. I think you probably know where you’re at with that. Series: You Are Who You Hang Out With (Week 1)

We asked a number of youth to share: 1) what your relationship with your parent is like, 2) a mentoring relationship you have, 3) your daily schedule, and 4) what your goals are (what you are pursuing in life) and who you are learning from in regards to those goals.

Then Dave shared these words:
