2 Timothy – Ch 3, 4

2 Tim ch 3 and 4

Thoughts that stand out to me

Chapter 3:

  • “There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God–having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.” (v1-5)
  • These kinds of people are “always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth.” (v6-7)
  • “You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, persecutions, sufferings…In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted, while evil men will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. But as for you, continue in what you have learned…you have known the holy Scriptures.” (v10-15)
  • “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be equipped for every good work.” (v16-17)

Chapter 4:

  • Preach, be prepared, correct, rebuke, encourage – with great patience and careful instruction. (v2)
  • “For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine.” They will instead listen to what their itching ears want to hear. (v3-4)
